Serge Leplège, born in 1971 in La Réunion – an Indian Ocean tropical island - is a professional photographer in both Paris and La Réunion.
As soon as 1991 he started working as a self taught photographer for the Dauphiné Libéré and then the Midi Libre (French newspapers). He specialized in photo coverage for news magazines and as an events and sports photographer. In 1995, he went back to La Réunion and while carrying his professional photography activities he resumed his studies starting with a BTS in mechanics and then a degree in Physical Education.  During his training as a PE teacher his passion for pictures, his greed for adventures and a different life caught up with him… and he decided in 2001 to dedicate himself solely to photography.
He has taken pictures of the most beautiful peaks of the island he has been hiking on since his younger days and has paid, for the last 10 years, particular attention to the Piton de La Fournaise. This volcano, one of most active on Earth, has become his favorite playing field.  He has hardly missed any of the 25 eruptions since 1998. As a member of the “Comité de la Diffusion sur le Volcanisme” he is among the few photographers officially allowed to enter the enclosure during volcanic eruptions.
His passion for surfing, underwater fishing and sailing emphasized his will to travel across the Indian Ocean and to bring back photos of his trips to Madagascar, Mauritius, Saint Brandon or South Africa.
Serge Leplège, always seeking the right light and moment that gives its full value to a scenery or a look and passionate with wild areas and natural landscapes, travels as often as he can our planet to bring us a testimony: his vision.
